What is a Triathlon? - Swim, Bike, Run and Finish

Triathlon is recognised as the fastest growing sport in the world, with more and more people of all fitness levels, age ranges, sizes and abilities taking up the sport. Glossy magazines are full of advice of how you can go about your Triathlon experience. However, Triathlon Plain and Simple is written for age group Triathletes by Paul Hickman, an experienced age grouper who took up the sport aged 50. Paul admits to making every mistake going in his early Triathlon days, but can now pass on his hard won knowledge, as he has gone on to complete many Sprint and Olympic distance races. Winning an age group race, and finishing two full Ironman’s. He is currently training for the 2012 Switzerland Ironman. Paul works as a Sports therapist at the 24/7 Fitness Gyms in Portsmouth and Fareham Hampshire, having worked in the Premiership, Super League, and for Team GB. He daily mentors and supports Triathletes of all abilities and ages up to Ironman Triathlon with great success.

Triathlon clubs, sports clubs and swimming pools, the lakes, bye ways and highways of the country are now very busy all year round, with people training for their own Swim, Bike, Run, Finish Triathlon challenge.

So what is a Triathlon, and just how do you go about Triathlon training, and how do you prepare for your first Triathlon, and can you really set up and train like the pro’s, with everything you have to do in the real world of your every day life? Are you realistically in the top 20%, or bottom 80% of Triathletes like Paul? Also if you are an experienced Triathlete and you want to step up to 70.3 and Ironman distances, how do you go about the set up and organisation of your challenge.

This is what the book Triathlon Plain and Simple is all about; it is an easy to read A5 Aide Memoire for people of all abilities who are preparing for a Triathlon and Ironman Triathlon before getting on the start line. The book is full of anecdotes, inspiring photographs of age groupers, and Triathlon tips, to get you to the start line of your challenge, and then how to complete your Triathlon, hopefully in the best time possible for you.
